PGA Tour unveils 2025 schedule; minimal year-to-year changes

The PGA Tour has unveiled its 2025 schedule, which features plenty of similarities to its 2024 edition.

The eight Signature Events—limited fields of around 70 players that feature inflated purses—will return to the same venues that hosted them in 2024, except for the Truist Championship. Formerly known as the Wells Fargo Championship, the Trusit Championship will stage its first event under its re-brand at the Philadelphia Cricket Club in early May, the week before the PGA Championship. Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, which has historically hosted the Wells Fargo Championship for over two decades, will host the season’s second major next year, forcing this Signature Event to head to the City of Brotherly Love.

The other change related to the Signature Event schedule involves the Memorial Tournament, which returns to its traditional date on the calendar at the beginning of June. It will swap places with the RBC Canadian Open, which will now take place the week before the 2025 U.S. Open at Oakmont in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Speaking of the RBC Canadian Open, Canada’s marquee event will head to TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley, which will host for the first time. Another tournament on the move is the BMW Championship, the second event of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, which will take place at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Maryland. Unlike TPC Toronto, which has never hosted a PGA Tour event, Caves Valley last welcomed the world’s best in 2021, when Patrick Cantlay won his first of two consecutive BMW Championship titles in a playoff over Bryson DeChambeau. Cantlay went on to win the FedEx Cup that year, too.

Of course, the FedEx Cup finale will once again take place at the Tour Championship at East Lake in Atlanta, Georgia.

The tour will stage 39 events in total as part of its 2025 schedule, which includes the eight Signature Events, the 51st playing of The Players Championship, the four majors, 18 full-field events, and five additional events played alongside three Signature Events, the Genesis Scottish Open, and The Open.
