The Sims 4 added 15 million players in the past year

The Sims 4 celebrated its 10tha anniversary in September. You’d think that an aging game like that wouldn’t be much of a sales powerhouse anymore, but players continue to flock to EA’s social simulator.

As part of its report for its Q2 FY25 earnings, EA noted that The Sims 4 attracted 15 million new players over the past year. On top of that, EA also noted, “Increased engagement led to higher-than-expected net bookings for the franchise in Q2.”

While the success of EA’s football games was the main driver for the publisher’s record Q2 net bookings, The Sims 4 also deserves credit. The Sims 4 has a lot of microtransactions. The more players, the more potential spenders.

Developer Maxis is working on future Sims projects, including Project Rene. But Maxis has stated that it does not want this new game to simply replace The Sims 4. With it continuing to see this much success, you can see why.
