Animoca Brands and LightLink partner on Web3 games with no gas fees

Animoca Brands and LightLink have partnered to enhance Web3 games with no gas fees for blockchain transactions.

Gas fees are a common scourge for Web3 games when there are heavy transactions on a blockchain network. But Animoca Brands, which has numerous investments in blockchain games, has partnered with LightLink, an Ethereum Layer 2 blockchain that enables decentralized apps (dApps) and enterprises to offer users instant, gasless transactions. Gas fees have been a significant access barrier for Web3 gaming, which doesn’t have enough support from mainstream consumers.

Under the strategic partnership, Animoca Brands will seek to integrate LightLink’s Ethereum Layer 2 technology into selected Animoca Brands projects and provide advisory services for LightLink’s tokenomics and go-to-market strategies.

LightLink allows businesses to subscribe their applications to operate gas-free, enabling users to participate in a public blockchain ecosystem without owning any tokens or having to pay any gas fees. The partnership will facilitate Animoca Brands’ projects and portfolio companies to offer their users a robust Web3 experience with no friction and minimal complexity.

LightLink streamlines the Web3 development process, offering significant utility like non-fungible token (NFT) ticket issuance without requiring a native token and seamless gaming asset transfers without gas fees, leading to a more streamlined user experience.

LightLink is already used by over 25 partners, including Grapes and The Red Village, and is being integrated in Translucia, a $300 million venture by MQDC and T&B Media Global, part of Asia’s C.P. Group family business.
