Cheryl Hines and husband Robert F. Kennedy Jr. put on a united front on Saturday, October 12, amid his recent scandal.
Hines, 59, and Kennedy, 70, were spotted holding hands on a beach in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, in photos obtained by the Daily Mail. Hines wore black athleisure underneath an army-green jacket while strolling alongside Kennedy. He dressed equally casually in jeans and a pink T-shirt.
The Curb Your Enthusiasm star and Kennedy have been married since 2014 following their respective divorces. After a decade of marriage, the politician was accused of having an “inappropriate personal relationship” with journalist Olivia Nuzzi.
New York Magazine confirmed in September that Washington correspondent Nuzzi, who previously profiled Kennedy for the outlet, was placed on leave for allegedly failing to disclose the pair’s relationship status.
“She is currently on leave from the magazine, and the magazine is conducting a more thorough third-party review. We regret this violation of our readers’ trust,” the magazine’s statement, in part, read.
Neither New York Magazine nor Nuzzi publicly named Kennedy in the statement, but CNN and The New York Times both reported that the subject was the former presidential candidate. In a statement to The Times, Nuzzi denied having a physical relationship with Kennedy.
“I did not directly report on the subject nor use them as a source. The relationship was never physical but should have been disclosed to prevent the appearance of a conflict,” Nuzzi said in her statement. “I deeply regret not doing so immediately and apologize to those I’ve disappointed, especially my colleagues at New York.”
Kennedy also denied the affair through his spokesperson. “Mr. Kennedy only met Olivia Nuzzi once in his life for an interview she requested, which yielded a hit piece,” the rep told NBC News in a statement.
Hines, for her part, has not publicly addressed the scandal, but a source exclusively told Us Weekly that she was more “upset” about her husband’s political ties than the speculation.
“Cheryl wasn’t so upset about the alleged affair, but more about how her husband’s involvement with Trump will affect her in Hollywood,” the insider told Us in October. “[RFK Jr.’s] political outspokenness has garnered a lot of polarizing attention. She‘s worried that it will hinder her work opportunities, given her long career.”
Earlier this week, she also shared support for Kennedy after his mother, Ethel, died at 96 from stroke complications. Kennedy posted an Instagram tribute to his late mom on Thursday, October 10.
“This is beautiful,” Hines replied via Instagram comment. “Your mother was very proud of you. 🤍”
