Ranking the Top Beauty Brands and Products in the USA and the World

New research from SpaSeekers has discovered the most popular iconic beauty products in every state in the USA and (nearly) every country in the world based on an analysis of google data.

Jason Goldberg, founder of SpaSeekers.com, comments: “Trends come and go, but we were particularly interested in looking at those iconic skincare and make-up products that go down in beauty history. What’s fascinating is the mix of new and classic brands and products – from those that have been around for hundreds of years, to those that have just risen to popularity in the last couple.”

See the findings below.

The USA’s Most Popular Beauty Brands and Products

When it came to the USA’s favorite products there were two clear winners, with Charlotte Tilbury’s Flawless Filter ranking as the top for 33 states including New York and California, while Glossier’s ‘You’ perfume ranked as the top product for the remainder of states.

When looking at the brands specifically, Glossier topped the list. The skincare and beauty brand launched less than ten years ago, back in October 2014 by founder Emily Weiss, and is now a global beauty brand, valued at $1.8 billion in 2021. Some of the brand’s cult products include brow product ‘Boy Brow’, multi-use balm ‘Balm dotcom’ and skincare staple ‘Milk Jelly Cleanser’—leading the brand to be a favorite of 22 states in the US. Recently, Amazon MGM bought the rights to adapt Glossy, a non-fiction book about Glossier and Emily Weiss.

Skincare brand Drunk Elephant follows in second spot, while makeup brands MAC and ColourPop Cosmetics rank in third and fourth spots, emerging as the favorite beauty brands for five and three states respectively. Other beauty brands which make the top list include La Roche Posay, Origins and Aveda.

The World’s Favorite Beauty Products

When it comes to the world’s most popular beauty products, it is The Ordinary’s Niacinamide which is revealed as the most popular, being the most searched for in 63 countries including Canada, Italy and Peru.

British make-up brand Charlotte Tilbury’s Flawless Filter is the second most popular beauty product in the world, with the UK, USA and Australia all having it as their most searched-for beauty item.

Nivea Crème moisturiser is the third most popular iconic beauty product, while another serum – Clarin’s Double Serum – also features on the list. The only perfume to make the list is Poison by Dior which is the most searched-for beauty product in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenia.

The World’s Favorite Beauty Brands

Looking at the most popular iconic beauty brands, there is a surprising name taking the top spot. According to the data, it’s drug store favorite CeraVe.

Another reasonably priced skincare brand is at the second spot, La Roche Posay, which is most popular in 33 countries – including France, Australia and Denmark.

Avon, which makes both skincare and beauty products, is the third most popular iconic brand in the world, being the most searched for in 30 countries. Avon unveiled its new brand identity earlier this year.
