Welcome to Playing Through’s daily ritual — Golf Talk Today.
Two rounds remain until the 2024 FedEx Cup winner emerges. The second round saw a 68.7 scoring average and eight rounds of 67 or better. East Lake played slightly harder, but it did not matter for Scottie Scheffler.
He seemed unstoppable on Friday, hitting fairway after fairway and avoiding massive mistakes.
Scheffler followed up his first-round 6-under 65 with a 5-under 66 and now sits at 21-under overall, having started the tournament at 10-under. Not even a weather delay could slow him down on Friday.
He leads Collin Morikawa, who is in second place, by four shots. Morikawa shot the low round of the tournament so far, shooting an 8-under 63 on Friday.
Xander Schauffele is in third place after he bounced back to shoot a 7-under 64. Schauffele sits at 16-under. Sahith Theegala moved up five spots on the leaderboard after shooting a 5-under 66. Theegala, whose entire family is cheering him on this week, is tied for fourth with Wyndham Clark and Adam Scott at 12-under.
